I did not receive my sign-in code

Codes arrive by email and expire after 15 minutes. Check your spam folder first. If nothing arrives, wait 30 seconds and request another — repeated requests in quick succession are rate-limited to protect the service. Still nothing? Write to support@xylvin.com with the address you used.

Can I sign in with my phone number?

Not yet. Sign-in is by email while we complete telecom registration for SMS delivery in India. Phone sign-in is planned and the option already appears in the app marked "Coming soon".

Are my messages end-to-end encrypted?

No — and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Messages are encrypted with AES-256 on your device and stay encrypted in storage, which protects them in transit and at rest. But the encryption key is not held solely on your device, so ChitChat is technically able to decrypt message content. True end-to-end encryption is something we are working towards. The privacy policy sets this out in full.

How do I report someone?

Open the conversation or profile, tap the menu, and choose Report. Reports go to our moderation queue with the content you are reporting. For urgent safety matters, also write to grievance@xylvin.com.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete account, or use the web request form if you have already uninstalled the app.

Why does ChitChat ask for my contacts?

Only to show which of the people you know already use ChitChat. Contact names never leave your device, and we do not store your address book. You can decline the permission and keep using the app.
